Municipality of Ligonchio
Description:
Borders to the north with the Municipality of Busana, to the south with the Municipality of Sillano (LU), to the east with the Municipality of Villa Minozzo, to the west with the Municipality of Collagna.
Easy slopes alternate with harsh and rocky areas and render the scenery very particular and diversified. At the highest elevations there are traces of ancient glaciers from the Wurmian period. Most of the territory is wooded: at the lower elevations there are oaks, hornbeams, and chestnuts; in the mountain zone there is mostly beech. Beyond the tree line there are rare forms of high altitude vegetation, heaths, and summit grassland.
In all the other towns in the municipal area, during the summer, there are many folkloristic and tradition initiatives, with celebrations, dances and songs.
Beyond the capital of the municipal territory there are also the towns of : Caprile, Casalino, Ciquecerri, Montecagno, Ospitaletto, Piolo and Vaglie.
