The Apennines of Reggio Emilia is located in northern Italy, Emilia Romagna.
Three-fifths of the province of Reggio Emilia are occupied by hills and mountains of the Apennines, which extends south and southwest of the city (Reggio Emilia) to the border with Tuscany.
The Apennines of Reggio Emilia has always been a land border and, at the same time, the hinge between Emilia, Lunigiana and Garfagnana.
The backbone of the Apennines of Reggio Emilia extends from northeast to southwest, from Passo del Lagastrello that divides it from the Apennines of Parma, Mount Giovarello that adjoins the Modena Apennines and the Cerreto Pass and Pradarena that divides it from Tuscany.
