Analytical text:

A church erected on the site off the current one appears to have existed since 1191. In 1575 the oratory of the Montale church existed, it was dedicated to the S. Maria de Nives. The church, dependent on the parish of Toano, towards the end of the 1500's was in disastrous conditions. The oratory was mentioned again in 1636 and in 1652. In 1664 the church resulted has having been rebuilt. In 1751 the church was in need of wall restoration. The building has a double weathered façade facing north with corbelled overhang of the roof. The entrance portal is made of carved stone with a festoon and shell frontispiece and bears the inscription: D.AN. GHIR. REC F.C. Above there's a praiseworthy sandstone oculus with the solar effigy and the inscription: "ELECTA UT SOL". The interior has a single apsed nave, with barrel ribbed vault, lunette and simple trabeation. The decorations done in 1948 are by professor Picchi of Reggio Emilia. A bowl shaped apse concludes the building. Inside the church a praiseworthy wooden ancon is kept, it is by Ceccati, and was mentioned during Bellincini's visit in 1679. Within the church you will find a stone dated "MCCCCLXXXXIIII" which allows the church to be attributed to the XXV century
