Novellano - 42030 Villa Minozzo
How to get there:
It's 16 km from the administrative capital.
From the administrative capital you take the SP 9 up to the intersection with the SP 95 for Novellano.
The town is located right under Mount Penna, to the left of the Rio Teggia.
the church of San Giacomo is mentioned in the Register of tithes at the beginning of the 15th century as a daughter house of the Toano parish. According to tradition in the Villa there is a castle whose traces might be seen in antique wall structures to the south of the hamlet and still called by that same name.
the hamlet in the past was probably bordered by a defensive barrier as is attested to by a few narrow linear building façades which surround the eastern edge of the town.
Noteworthy is an underpass with rounded stone arch bearing the year "1581". Within this same building you can see a 16th century sandstone portal, squared with reliefed cornice and carved in bas-relief architrave with the symbol of the diamond.
A second row building complex retains the riser of a 16th century window adorned with ovules.
Novellano is characterized by numerous other buildings of environmental and stylistic worth, generally attributable to the second half of the 19th century.
