Sologno - 42030 Villa Minozzo
How to get there:
It's 9 km from the administrative capital
from the administrative capital you take the SP 59 for Sologno.
The town occupies a narrow divide, located to the north of Mt. Stetta, to the left of the Lucola torrent.
Sologno was in ancient times a villa belonging to the Piolo Castle.
Of the antique castle there are only a few walls remaining where there's a rocky slope and which can be seen at the center of the hamlet. You will also notice a narrow underpass with lateral entrance which leads to the area which was in ancient times occupied by the castle where you will notice architectural features attributable to the XVI-XVII century along with rough angular ashlars perhaps belonging to a tower which surmounted the passage.
On the upper edge of the hamlet you can see a wide 19th century court with service buildings in a discreet state of conservation.
A residential building is united to the court and is characterized by a sandstone portal with rounded arch and spired keystone adorned in bas-relief with the Bernardian symbol and the crown.
A nearby pillar majesty encloses in a niche a tavola painting belonging to the XVIII-XIX century.
The unstable characteristics of the marly substrate have determined the reconstruction of numerous buildings as is attested by a few reconstructed architectural features among which a smoothed sandstone architrave with the year "1600 - MAII".
Other scattered construction features bear dates of the XVI-XVII century.
