Additional notes:
The Abetina Reale wood, given by the Gazzano's people to the ducal family of Este in 1451, used to be exploited for the wood. The first sawmill was built on the occasion of the start of the work to the Castelnuovo Garfagnana's fortress construction (1568), in fact a great part of the necessary wood was taken by the Abetina Reale. At the beginning of the 19th century, the sawmill was rebuilt, and the Abetina exploitation became higher, mainly at the white fir population's cost; that fact happened until 1977, when it was gained by Emilia Romagna region.
The Civago-Lama Lite forest street is interrupted by a bar close to the Rio lama Bridge; the road is closed to unauthorized vehicles.

Description:
Next to spontaneous groups of age-old white firs, anthropic plant specimens coexist, they come from a long economic growing activity linked to the sawmill. The area is surrounded by red firs and by other conifers, which are the result of reafforestation, great ashes and red eldr spots; in the background you catch sight of the Sprone del Monte Prado.
