Description
It is among one of the best preserved hamlets of the entire Reggiano territory and very interesting environmentally and architecturally. The hamlet follows the ancient mule path from Paullo to Canossa and occupies a prominent knoll in the Campola valley. The Pegolotti counts resided here and erected the "Concezione" oratory in 632 at the entrance of the hamlet which was restored in the 19th century.
Following the construction of the Lunigiana road, which crossed the nearby Costaterrata Pass, the town never underwent new construction and a charming environment of courts and tower-houses, clinging to each other has remained intact.
A community spirit among the inhabitants is still present today. The tower-houses face each other along the narrow main street: the building erected by the Giovanardi Counts, the 17th century, rises to the west while on the east, not too far away, you can see a lowered tower-house.
