Analytical text:
The village is composed of three inhabited centers: "Casalino", "Case Bracchi", and "Loggia".
In Casalino there's a church dedicated to San Rocco, built in 1651 with a court foundation and a pitch roof. The facade is made of stone and you can see a slab with the inscription "IHS ADI 6 AGOSTO 1631".
The name "Case Bracchi" apparently comes from the fact that there were "bracchi" (hunting hounds) guarding the village.
the village is found along the hillside below Casalino and is one of the most important places in terms of architectural-historical significance, not having undergone great structural alterations. There are edifices of the 14th century, vast paved threshing floors, an arenaceous portal stating in keystone the year "1805" and an arch-shaped underpass.
Amongst a group of house, in a narrow passageway, you can see a particular rock-stone structure with an "a pigne" "arenaceous rock slabs) surface, formed by two quadrangular niches, the old people in the town say that they could have been used as a "refrigerator".
"Loggia" is a small inhabited hamlet to the right of the Ozola torrent, characterized in past centuries by four stone water mills with arches as passageways for the water, which were already registered in a hydrographic document of 1888.
Presently there are three left.
The oratory of the Sacchini is a point of interest in this small hamlet, it was built in the 19th century and dedicated to Saint Annuziata, S. Francesco of Assisi and the Apostle S. Bartholomew.
Noteworthy is also an 18th century building, a marble icon of the 20th century depicting the Virgin with Infant Jesus and a Saint and the washing trough - with stone fountains, still in use today by the few families left in the hamlet.
Beside the San Rocco Church of Casalino the CAI 625 path starts and takes you to the nice grasslands under Mount Cusna called "Prati di Sara".
In th is vast expanse there are secular beechwoods with bizarre shapes modeled by the wind.
At the center of these fields there's a seasonal lake.
the first part of the path, lined by chestnut trees, follows an antique mule road with a paved roadbed. Along the path there's an abundant water spring. Edited by the staff of appenninoreggiano.it and by the Province of Reggio Emilia
