Description:

Located at the back of the bottom of the Secchia Valley, it is a particularly active centre in craftsmanship, industry and agriculture, this is also due to its good location which rapidly connects it to the valley renowned for its ceramics situated between the provinces of Reggio Emilia and Modena. Called "the small Reggiano Dawn" for its truffles, celebrated every year with a town fair, Cavola has modern hotels and leisure facilities: restaurants, sports centres, a discotheque, which all make it a young capital of the mountain.
Among the typical crafts noteworthy of interest is the wood inlaying descended from an antique tradition and the restoration of antique furniture.
The first historical mention of the town is found in the documents from 1148 and 1156, which refer to the hospital of Cavella (Latin name of the town), while in 1218 it's cited in the swearing of allegiance to Reggio Emilia.
