Historical Origins:
Historical origins
The white of Scandiano obtained the Domination of origin in 1976. Very appreciated by the poet Giosuè Carducci and by the scientist Lazzaro Spallanzani, it was already know in the 1500's. Creating the base of the success of this wine was at the end of the 19th century, The Scandiano Aenological society, which started then to promote it beyond the provincial borders, so that it reached the Universal exposition of Philadelphia in 1876 and that of Paris two years later.
In 1996 the Ministry of Agricultural Resources approved a new disciplinary production code for the domination of controlled origin of the wine of the "Hills of Scandiano and Canossa" (no longer then only "White of Scandiano"), which offers the possibility of producing eleven types of wine, among which the Classic White.

The organoleptic characteristics of the wines are guaranteed by a consortium of protection, made up of aenologists, who give advice on the crops, on the pedological analysis of the terrain and on the research of innovative production techniques. The standard qualities of the wine are ascertained through tasting done by a commission of the European Union that meets every week at the Chamber of Commerce of Reggio Emilia.
