Description
The church dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta, is one of the most antique of the diocese. In the Register of Tithes of 1302 the churches of Poiano, Asta, Febbio, Coriano, Ripiola, Villa, Secchio and the hospital of Ponte della Pioppa were daughter-houses of this church. The entrance is surmounted by an engraved inscription on the front of a cornice, which bears the following phrase: "Turre Fortissima Nomen Dimini…istante Popolo laborante 1856…".
