The church of Nigone rises near a steep outcropping of volcanic rocks which dominate the underlying Liocca Valley.
to the west of the hamlet the ruins of an antique fort stand out, rooted on the peak of a sandstone pinnacle.
The combined presence of the church and the fort, attests to the antique origin of the settlement whose conformation is typically medieval.
The buildings, arranged side by side in a single row along the slope, retain features of antique walls. On the upper edge of the building now there's the noble dwelling of the Vallisneri nobles, on the façade you can see a praiseworthy square sandstone portal bearing the family coat of arms.
Not far from the building there's a votive pillar with tabernacle in sandstone which has a praiseworthy marble icon inside.
The antique fort of Tegge is now reduced to a few chipped walls.
Today you can still travel the mule track entrance which leads to the building climbing the northern side of the hill.
a few escarpments, remaining walls and the remarkable extension of the summit area attest to the importance that this defensive structure once had in the past.
