Description
Ospitaletto, located in the valley of the torrent Rossendola, was a feud of Matilde di Canossa. Tradition narrates that it was the Contessa Matilde herself who wanted to build a hospice, from which Ospitaletto derives its name, to feed and refresh travelers, who lost and tired would descend the Pradarena Pass towards the village, directed by the sound of a bell.
Today to recall its long history there are only a few sculptured stones, among which a recovered key from a portal from the 18th century, with a coat of arms and date.
the 1920 earthquake completely destroyed the village.
Ospitaletto is now a renown ski resort which bases its economy on seasonal tourism.
