Description
San Romano, situated along the slopes on the right of the Tresinaro torrent, near Mt. Lianella, is one of the most antique hamlets in the Baiso territory.
The styles you can see show essentially agricultural characteristics.
The current nucleus of San Romano began with the unity of three small agglomerates: Cà di Guido, Cà Vologni and Cà d'Imovilli around the parochial dedicated to Saints Quirico and Judith.
A few buildings amongst the most antique and significant such as the Cà di Guido tower house have been completely re-arranged altering in part the original print. The three above-mentioned centers have been connected to a recent series of constructions which are filling up what was once open space.
The historical aggregations highlight the separated origins of the centers and the linear style developed along the route which connects the hamlet on one side to Viano and Baiso while on the opposite side it leads to a secondary route, a mule-track of great scenic interest, punctuated by a few antique tabernacles immersed in the thick oak woods.
Noteworthy is the space surrounding the church and a rural complex with a dovecot tower located at the beginning of the inhabited center.
The environmental landscape of San Romano has a very charming combination of qualities made up of woods, calanques, and cultivated areas, which accentuate the architectural elements of the hamlet.
