The legend of the three bandits
The legend, passed down from generation to generation, tells of the birth of a few local fractions
Around the year 1000, three brothers: Pigo, Ligo and Silo, rebelled against their master who demanded high taxes, they killed him and to seek refuge hid themselves in our mountains. Other young people joined them, thus forming a gang who stole and looted. Having collected a large stash and tired of that lifestyle, the three brothers decided to found Three new towns to establish themselves there permanently. Pilo stopped on a sunny knoll and founded Piolo; Ligo crossed the river and almost facing Piolo founded Ligonchio; Silo crossed Pradarena and near the Serchio springs built the first house of Silano (LU).
