Itinerary in detail
Length: 33 km
time needed: 4 hours
Difference in Altitude: 800 m
Difficulty: medium - difficult
The itinerary builds an excursion that takes place entirely on carriage and forest roads. The throat of the Riarbero torrent, the Pratopranda lake, the prairies of the ridge and the morenic ravines at the foot of Mount Casarola, offer a very suggestive route which, while not have serious technical difficulties, should be done with the right amount of training given the noteworthy length and difference in altitude.
On the road which from Collagna( 840 m) goes in the direction of Vaglie you take the gravel road which leads to the shore of the Secchia river. You climb up to the wooded valley of the Riarbero torrent. After a Kilometer you cross the torrent that has to be crossed again in the location Ferriere (1030 m). You get to the Pratopranda lake (1275 m) continuing then on the paved road that leads to Cerreto Pass (1261 m). You follow here the signs of the Great Apennines excursions (GEA - O/O) up to the Ospedalaccio Pass (1271 m). You descend again to cross the Secchia, climbing then to cross the CAI path n 651 and then on the n 669 up to Scalucchia Pass (1357 m). From here you re-descend, passing through the town of Valbona, up to Collagna.
