Description:
From the Scalucchia pass there's a pass which begins and along carriage roads reaches Valbona (1121 m). From here you can admire a wide view, which encompasses many peaks of the highest peaks of the Reggiano Apennines: Cusna, Calvalbianco, La Nuda, Casalrola. The path continues descending into the valley, crossing a mixed wood forest of pines and alders which leads to an area where you can admire white and gray rock formations; evidence of an arid and highly evaporative climate in the past. The eye beholds a landscape also characterized by wide "prairies", unusually extensive in this territory. You then reach the coppice forest of beechwood, which in the past supplied firewood and charcoal, and the chestnut woods, still cultivated today. Descending you reach the SS 63. Here we are next to the "ravines" of the Secchia river, profound gorges with steep rocky walls carved by the water. The path continues along a carriage road up tot he Secchia river and the near-by "water museum" mill, from where you can continue along the carriage road that goes to Cerreto Alpi.
